Gameshark confusion

I have just purchased a gameshark2, when I got home and tried it out it gave me a error saying it wasnt compatable with my ps2 version. The screen says I can email customer service for upgrades...so I did....no answer in over 2 weeks and 3 emails later. I checked the website for gameshark...and they only offer 1.6 upgrade on the website (which I cant seem to order from) for $8. I dont believe this is fair because I just spent about $40 on the damn gameshark...it should work when I took it home. Plus I have heard of v1.8 and 1.9 upgrades floating around....where can I get one of these versions?

Ive had my neo 2.2 for almost 3 weeks but havent installed it yet because I dont have a working gameshark. This is very frustrating.

Now I have read that the new ps2 U.S. versions have new dvd software drivers that might not be compatable with the gameshark I have...which is v1.3. Is this true? Unfortunately I dont have the specs for my ps2 with me at work here but I can tell you it was purchased new a month and a half ago from the retailer so I am sure its the latest version out there.

I guess my main question is ....are there any other people out there having this problem too? so I know im not alone...and if so....does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Thanks for the help

Warlock is on a distinguished road
If you just bought it take it back to the store and get a refund. The last gameshark2's i bought was from a local Walmart store. They were V1.8.
