I haven't run into the problem you mentioned.
As a matter of fact THE ONLY problem I have EVER ran into with my Messiah is that PS1 originals and backups play in black and white....(But I know how to fix that now).... Other than that ZERO problems.........  If you find that its not a wiring problem it could very well be a FAULTY CHIP (EXTREMELY RARE) but possible... Keep us posted on what you find....
