hi. i've been lurking on the board for the past week or so. nice posts.
okay .. here's my delima. i've ordered the non-solder mod chip (on backorder); but, even if i receive it, i still need to order the gameshark 2 v 1.93. my problem is that when i go to buy one online .. they just say 'gameshark 2' and don't list the version number. is there a place to get the 1.93? i've seen them on ebay, but they are a bit more than the ones from the online stores. any suggestions? or does anyone know if the other versions of gameshark 2 will play the dvd-r with the non-solder chip? thanks in advance... panch |

I have booted dvd-r with a GS2 v 1.93, and 2.01. here's how
Step 1 Boot up PS2 with the GS2 CD. Step 2 At main menu, press eject and swap GS2 CD with a PS2 Original DVD Game. Step 3 Press Eject to close (Wait for 20 seconds). Step 4 Select any Game code list, and turn on or off any code on the list, then press start to go to the with/without codes menu Step 5 Select with codes, then Press X. It will say “Update Code List” and the dvd stops spinning. Eject the dvd using the rmod method and replace the dvd with the dvd-r, You have about 8 sec, tray will close and game will load.

Version number, where?
Where can you find the version (besides "version 2") for your gameshark? Is it printed on the hardware or found in the software? I sure hope mine's 1.7 through 2.03, otherwise I won't be able to play dvd-rs

The above boot method works for every GS2 V2.0 through 2.11

I have heard that a GS2 v2.xx will boot dvd-r on a neo2.5/6 as well. The method for the neo 2.5/6 is different and much longer. I have not confirmed it because I dont have any new GS2's I just have a 1.92 and 1.93 (the best).
I will attach a non confirmed tutorial on how to play dvd-r with a neo2.5/6 and a GS2 v2.xx. If it works feel free to post your results here. Tyler!

Yep, I just picked up a gameshark from CompUSA on the 2nd of August so I know it's the "latest version" and CD-R for both PSX and PS2 are working.
The Gameshark says "GameShark 2, Video Game Enhancer Version 2) As for a more specific version that just version 2, I don't know. I'll be trying DVD-R out on it as I get a hold of one and I'll tell you if that works out.

That would be most helpful, thanks. I have heard rumors about it working but havent been able to confirm it.
If you need dvd-r I know where you can get a hold of some, send me an email for any inqueries. Tyler!

If you look on the underside of the Game Shark disc on the inner ring towards the center of the CD it will say what version you have. It is very hard to see. I was told my NEO-KEY would only work with 1.93 but it works with 2.01 as well.

Well its a combo between the PS2 and mod that needs to be compatible with the gameshark. The 1.93 and 1.92 gamesharks work on all ps2's.
The 1.93 and 1.92 are really meant for booting up dvd-r games. A NEOKEY user doesnt need it. Tyler!

version 2.12
Now I'm concerned because I found the version number 2.12 - and am unsure if dvd-rs will play.
I'd love to try out a DVD-R since I was planning on the purchase of a burner - and to end the gameshark version 2.12+ question about playing DVD-Rs.
