"clicking" noises when inserting movie dvd
Problem: after i've inserted movie dvd into ps2, machine makes (usually) 2 sharp and noisy "clicks". Movies itself (usually) work just fine, although lately few of my movies which have previously worked fine now ends up causing these "clicks" in a neverending loop. With these problem cases clicks are more quiet ja subtle. It doesn't matter whether i try booting them directly or via browser screen.
Games (originals/dvd/cd/cd-r) work just fine without any "extra" noises. I've got neo2.2 installed. Machine is PAL V3. Any ideas? Are movie dvd's thicker/thinner? Laser needs to be calibrated perhaps? |

Locate my post "Understanding DVD/DVD-R & Laser Issues" and it'll tell you what's most likely going on.

I had a problem with the clicking noises but only when i tried to run a dvd-r backup game through AR2.(when i insered the original dvd game the clicking noise appeared) Anyway what CHARLIE THE SAVER suggested was lot of help to me. First of all try to clean your ps2 laser lens by using a cleanning cd which has brushes on it.( easy to find and buy) Then clean your cds, i used cleaning tissues special for cds. wish that your cd lens is dirty and that your laser is not dying on you. After i washed my dvds and cleaned my lens a few times i no more had any problems, except for a few times that it still happens.
