Question Best Mod for a V1 Playstation 2

While looking through all the modchips for Playstation 2, I find many chips require a Version 4 or later Playstation 2. I have a Version 1 Playstation 2 and wish to install a modchip for both cd-rs and dvd-rs. The problem comes that I am not all too thrilled about soldering but I could handle 1 to 5 wires comfortably.

Does anyone know the best modchip to install that plays cd-rs and dvd-rs (both PSX & PS2) for Version 1 Playstation 2 that only requires a few wires to be soldered?

BG is on a distinguished road
The best thing for you would be the Magic 2 modchip. It works on your V1 console, BUT would highly REC. (IF your in the US) to ship your PS2 to Chicago and let Bill @ Freedomlives.com do the install for you.....
You are not going to find a modchip that plays CD-R & DVD-R with only a couple of wires to solder... Unless you want to waste your days away swapping discs....
The Magic 2 direct boots everthing...(Just like messiah).....

Thanks BG, but I'm a do-it-yourself girl. I've soldered before but I don't want 44 wires or anything that outlandish.

I'll waste my days away swapping discs, I mean I can waste away my days playing videos games, so it's obvious I have the time. (ha)

I'll sacrifice swapping for something I can install myself.

Anymore suggestions?

poppermod v magic 2

Alright, how about a poppermod chip or a magic 2 chip for a version 1? I've seen poppermods for versions 3 and 5, is it complatible with version 1? Same question for magic 2 chip.
