Question NTSC Nastyness!

Hi all,

Wonder if anyone can take away the pain?, details follow.

I've recently had my PS2 upgraded with messiah, but it seems my sony TV can't handle NTSC games and I get a nasty flickering and half the screen goes in black and white(PAL games work fine), The TV is only about 2yrs old. I know its not the PS2 because all the games work fine on my old portable TV which is like 100 years old. In my desperation I tried going through my VCR (which claims to support NTSC to PAL playback) but had no joy. Also when I patched my winning 11 6 to PAL I got a nasty slowdown and the screen shrunk Has anyone else had this problem?

TIA.

Speedy G.

ntsc

hi mate if your tv's only 2 years old if will def support ntsc for a start you can not run it through a video it must go direct to the tv if your using the scart that came with your ps2 this is the problem the lead that comes with the console is compisite video pluged into a scart adapter what you need is a old psx1 rgb scart lead or just any ps1\ps2 rgb scart also some tvs have 2 or 3 scart connections on the back not all of these will be euro scart so try in in both this should sort it out
cheers

I'll translate Gaz's reply for you although you appear to have understood it!

1 You will need a fully loaded SCART lead not the adaptor that came with PS2

2 You will need to find the right TV SCART port - the one that works

3 You could just plug the red/white/yellow leads in if yr TV has the sockets

4 If you bought your TV in Tesco ......

I reckon my TV is just shite!

Thanks guys, I tried pluggin the RED/WHITE/YELLOW directly into TV, it works for about 10 minutes then starts to flicker and go B&W , like I said b4 all works find on my old crusty Portable TV.

I reckon im gonna need to buy a new TV

SCPH30003R Messiah upgrade PAL
TV = Sony KV-X2552U (Specifies PAL Colors system.

Standard Cables.

Why do I find it so hard to listen????

Dudez,

I went out and brought a NTSC to PAL converter, plugged it in and bingo, no colour at all!!!!!

Took it back a brought a PS2/Scart connector, plugged it in the RGB SCART in my TV, and its been working flicker free for about 15 minutes now (fingers crossed )

thanks for the advice guys, I should have listened harder

Ciao

Speedy.
