Heyo
GEar, lens laser...

Hello, does the white gear have a significant role in reading the ps2 cds?
My ps2 only reads music cds and psone games now(I have read that many others have this proble also). Could adjusting the gear have a role in this?

Also, I would like to know if alcohol will be a good lens cleaning substance...

ALCOHOL ON LENSE!!!???

Don't go near that fragile piece of hardware!!! Sony head units are flaky enuff as is. All you should need is a CD Player type of cleaning CD (little brushes underneath).

I think that cog has something to do with the tracking height of the head unit. I wouldn't mess with it unless you are sure of what you are doing, and you have a way to set it back to default. That head unit is extremely sensitive, and works in a narrow range of focus.
