Playing from a backup of RedAlert2

I hope there is some kind soul that might be able to help me before I loose my mind .....

The problem I am having is as follows;

I have copied Redalert 2 from my original game disc using a LG GCE-8240B and Roxio's Easy Cd Creator 5 cd copier from the CDRW's drive to my hardrive and back to the CDRW using a 80min Verbatim disc at 4X speed.

I have used the backup copy of the RA2 disc and installed the game onto another of my computers without problems. I then used safedisc2cleaner to unwrap and re-wrap the RA2 executable file, all goes well until I try to run the SD2cleaned file at which point I get an error "Launcher config file missing", "You must run the game from it's install directory".

At this point I tried executing the original RA2.EXE file with my original game disc and all is OK. But can't get the SD2cleaned file to run.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction.... where did I go wrong ?

Thanks in advance,

Dave.

1) easy cd creator 5 is the worst burning program ever. use nero to burn own compilations, or clonecd to copy cd's.

2) rename ra2.exe to ra2.exe.bak, and rename sd2cleaned.exe to ra2.exe. that should do the trick.

Thanks bOOls eYe for putting me on the straight and narrow I can now play the game from my back-up CD.

I hope to get Nero in the very near future.

Dave.
