audio cassette to cd

Ok guys could anyone hlep me! im trying to get some audio cassettes to cd but i dont know wich prgo to use, i used soun forge once but when i recorded it recorded just bass so i don't know can be the cassette player or the line in that gives such sound? could you guys tell me what software can be used for such a task easy to use???
the cassettes are some stuff to learn german!
i have a sound blaster x-gamer sound card !

Just hook your tape deck into your microphone jack. Then use a program like Sound Recorder (comes with windows) and record it into a WAV file.

Not the micro, the line in jack!
Keep SoundForge, its fine!
There's only bass... before or after recording? Before? its either the deck either the soundcard, or a wrong connection. After? Make sure your bass/treble settings are in the middle. But I rather think its because you didn't record in 44100 Hz 16 bits stereo. In Sound Forge, click File/New, and enter the above settings. Then click record.
