Gamecube Slot A ruined

My six year old seems to have damaged the memory slot A on his Gamecube. The card does not seem to fit properly when inserted in A. I don't seem to be able to get the games to boot up and read the memory card when it is in slot B.

When we put the card in slot B it displays his saves, but when he tries to load a game (using his saved files) it just keeps saying, no memory card in slot A. The memory card seems fine. Is there a way to have it default to slot B? Or is slot B simply for copying?

Sorry for the silly question, but I need Heeeeeeeeeeeelp!

If he goes for more than a day without playing NASCAR 2003, '05 or '06 my life will be a living &*$#%#!

Thanks!

Desperate Mom
