Problem playing Oblivion
Hi I have installed oblivion fine, and the game loads into the menu fine and then loads into the game.
I can move around in the game fine for about 1 second and then suddenly my walking speed reduces to a horribly slow pace and the game becomes unplayable. I used the 'The Elder Scrolls 4 v1.0 (v1.0.228) [ENGLISH] No-DVD/Fixed EXE' I found on GCW to play this, is there something Im missing here or are other people having this problem? Thanks. |

athlon xp 64 3700+ 1gb 3200 ram ati X1800 XT 512mb its not the fps which is buggy, I can do everything else in the game with a perfect fps, its just when I move the pace is very very slow (as in the fps is still high but I move slow compared to everything else ingame) |

Is it because you are walking not running ? try holding down the shift key when you move and see if things speed up any and also if you go into first person view the game does seem quite slow.

Do you have a joystick or gamepad attached? A few people where having the same issue and it had to do with the throttle control on their joystick/gamepad. Try unplugging it or moving the throttle.

Sorry can't see it mentioned if you actually did try the original exe...this is just the sort of thing that seems to happen in a game when an unfinished crack is used?

Ive ran it on 2 machines, one with 6600GT card and one with dual 7800's. They run fine for me.
But for the initial poster its possible when the game was being designed that they didnt have time to go back to include x1800 support in the game, so expect that to come in a patch. |

@Rirague - If everything else in the game is running at a reasonable speed other than your walking speed then it's obviously not a memory or graphics card issue. I would have made the same suggestion as Penkster tbh as I can't think of anything else that would cause this. Have you been doing any performance tweaks to the .ini file?
