hi, im not very technically savvy, so bear with me if i say something that sounds stupid. I dont play a lot of games anymore, but I got the itch the other day to play final fantasy 7. popped it into the ol' playstation, nothing happened. long story short, the game cd's are fine, but the playstation is crapped.
I just got a new laptop, has a cd burner. What i want to know is if it is possible for me to make a backup or burn of the playstation final fantasy 7 discs and then play it on my laptop somehow. my brother told me this is possible with a modulater, but im not sure where to start or if its even possible. this is very frustrating since i dont want to buy a new playstation or playstation 2 to play one game and not that frequently. any help at all would be greatly appreciated. |

so I don't need to make a copy of the discs? can i make a copy of them anyway with the cd burner?
by the way, how would i save a game? is there a way to hook up the memory card to the computer, or does the emulator save the file on my computer? -again, sorry if these are stupid questions. ill download the emulator and give it a try... |

Go through the readme and faqs pages on the epsxe webpage. You don't need to copy your disks, but I've found running an image off the HD instead of running off your originals in the cdrom seems to be less taxing you your comp.

Me too, I created images from all my emulated psx games. Also noticed that I get smoother sound that plays more accurately.

So, while it is not normally necessary to use a backed up disc with the emulator, let's just assume that I have circumstances where I have to. Would a backed up copy of the game work with the emulator, or does it have to be the real McCoy?
