I think it all has to do with your reader & burner. I believe some say their burner would actually be a better reader than their other CD-ROM on the same computer as reader. I believe that's the case for me when I was doing SeriousSam2. Took me up to an whole hr to read with my Kenwood 72TrueX and came out with a messed up image. Then it only took under 20 min's to read with my burner Lite-On 40125S
Of course, this was on the same setting to read "4x" with some fast error skip settings. Delay is also added when you can't read/burn as fast due to making a readable copy
