How long should it take to burn a game

How long should it take. It seems like it is taking me an awful long time to burn a simple game with safedisc 1.

DeanI 09-03-2002 20:38

when i burnt tiberian sun with safedisk it took about 25mins all up
read:40
Write:16

themis_t 10-03-2002 00:49

it could noway take 25 mins with 16 write speed......NO WAY

Writing will be as fast as usual. Reading will be slower than normal cd's due to the protection. How slow depends on what drive you use to read.

themis_t 10-03-2002 12:27

i was talking only about the writing....

Bandiet 11-03-2002 08:58

well m8 that depends on the speed of your writer :)
1x = 150 KB/s

So let's say you've a 16x burner. A 700 MB cd would take you about: 700 x 1024 / 16 x 150 / 60 = 5 minutes

themis_t 11-03-2002 13:17

well,i burn with 8x speed and it takes about 10 mins...

DeanI 11-03-2002 22:30

It was between 20-25 all together not just burning

themis_t 12-03-2002 03:04

what speed burning and reading???

well that would prove my calculation then ha :D
16x = 5 min
8x = 10 min

themis_t 12-03-2002 12:36

yeah,that's right....

I have an asus 52x cd-rom. I have a plex 24/10/40a. I burnt Maxt Payne with safedisc 2 and it took an hour and a half. I burnt the Sims and it took as long with only safedisc 1. I burnt an old game with nothing and it took 3 minutes. An hour and a half seems like a long time. Is it and if so don't just tell me, tell me how to fix it. Thanks guys
:)

Pimp1111 12-03-2002 20:09

oh i am also burning on the fly and using the settings in clonyxxl. What I have burned works fine. But really slow.

Pimp1111 12-03-2002 20:20

I have burner and cd-rom drive on same ide channel. I think that could be the problem. Would my harddrive be slowed down if I put it on the samw channel as the burner?

themis_t 13-03-2002 13:31

first of all,what makes the procedure last for so long is the reading not the writing part.......
