Forget any Adaptec software you have as this is crap for backing up PSX titles.
I believe the "Smart and Friendly" burners to be Phillips based machines (correct me if i'm wrong!), and are not the best for making PSX backups. There is a solution that has been posted a few times on this forum and if you search for "freecom" you should find it quite quickly.
