Retail is dvd9+dvd5, no need to make conversion because you can use Steam Backup feature with SteamWorks games.

Other way is to move .sid files, moving some of them from Disk1 to Disk2 and if that isn't enought then moving some on disk3. but remember to keep numerical/install order of these files, also you need to copy disk1.sim and disk1.sis files also to disk2 if moving disk1 files to disk2 so installer knows to look for next disk1 files on disk2.

Problem is then disk prompt, it will ask disk 1 when needing disk 2 and so on, editing any files doesn't help so is best to make it through Steam backup to DVD5 sizes and you get correct disk prompts etc.

This same thing goes for Saints Row 2 and NBA 2k9

And of course this doesn't work for warez users
