actually, @Magyar, if you're truly wanting to beta test then pm me or cdkiller, and we'll see about it, if you're just venting for some unknown reason then please stop

and joe actually states the main reason it went internal beta..

some people tested, some internal betas leaked to the public, for us, we want a public release to be as stable, as tested as possible (which is where the beta testers come in), if we released a new version every 2 weeks like you suggest (which simply isnt possible because cdkiller and i have to live, work, eat, sleep and then work on pid which is a hobby) then there would be too many bug reports, versions to track and generally it gets very messy very quickly... that and, of all the people who applied, only about 10 of them were actually any use.

Yeah, from my personal experience, people 1) almost never add the actual version number in their reports (so you gotta ask back) and 2) also rarely look at the homepage, to see if there's a version newer than the one they're using, before reporting a problem (so you gotta ask them to try again with the latest release). This is a headache and a waste of time, even with my software that now, unfortunately, gets updated only every few months. In my case, it is alpha releases - rather then beta releases for Protection ID - that are distributed only to a small team of hand-picked, dedicated power users (and often hardware/software developers themselves).
