It is ProtectDisc.

yener90 13-12-2008 12:54

ok thx for the information.
can i make a image of my dvd and use it with daemon tools?
i dont want to insert dvd everytime, when i start the game.

Blazkowicz 13-12-2008 13:49

You have to try. Of course you need latest DT Pro Advanced and vIDE.
When the game is too new, it won't work anyway.

GMail is in beta for +4 years and will continue like that.
Who knows if CDKiller & TippeX works also for Google developing GMail :D.

Magyar 25-12-2008 01:08

i was taking the piss.....
protection id is DEAD, ok !?!

nando2002 25-12-2008 04:59

Nope. It will be released (but maybe not in beta stage).
Although Protection ID wont die because protections get updated and new ones appears.

huh...
i think we all know about it..
2 years or so ago it went into hibernation. (beta?)
it's been in beta since then.... (with one "public" c0ck tease last xmas)
added everything but cow's bells (maybe it has them too by now ?)
a program that should be updated every few weeks (as protections change and update) takes around 2 years for beta ?? so once it's released updates will be how often ? days/weeks/months/years ??
and will it still be free ?? because if yes then why would the 2 year long "beta" have been closed (well closed to the general public)
sorry but i must laugh....
i know its coming i just have to laugh at the situation...
maybe you think some people will pay money for such program to tell them what protection their game has ?? (and see how much cpu process it uses?)
good luck chuck.....

imagine how quickly firefox would be dropped by 99% of users if tomorrow it started charging for new versions ? do you agree ?

TippeX 25-12-2008 11:45

if you dont like it, dont use it, simple as that, never went into hibernation we simply moved to internal beta testers..

"a program that should be updated every few weeks".. name one of the other scanners that does this (excluding the peid style 'database' <i call them false positive> releases which are mostly not from the people who made the program..

"asking people to pay" was never mentioned.. no idea where you made this up from.., pid was free, and will always be free, we stated this many many times...

noone is charged for pid, pid makes 0 money, no adverts, no gimmicks, nothing...

as for the closed beta, many posts were made about us making a closed beta group, i guess you didn't see them and/or didnt apply... neither of which is our fault, so dry your eyes..

regarding the bells and whistles, i made pid to be a tool i would use myself for various things (hence the task manager, notepad, nfo viewer etc), some users liked it, some didnt, such is life.. i also said a pid lite was planned (probably sometime early new year) that has just the scanning core, log window, queue window for those people who dont feel that they need such things (though you dont see many people whining that windows doesnt needs xyz on microsoft forums do u...)..

A major software of mine was (public) beta for a decade. So what; do you prefer quantity to quality?
