There's no entry for Witcher in GCW's games list and a Google search doesn't turn up anything for the Enhanced Edition (which is version 1.4). Care to supply a direct link?

This may be an issue of semantics but DRM (Digital Rights Management) covers anything that limits or affects a consumer's ability to enjoy their purchase. I consider CD/DVD checks to be DRM since they stop you from playing the game if your media gets damaged.

It's in that list. Search carefully.

It's your definition.
Remember when you buy a car to ask the dealer you don't want to refill the gas tank or change tyres because that's DRM (affects the ability to enjoy your purchased car) even if the dealer or the manufacturer doesn't control when you do it.
A CD/DVD Check doesn't limit you to play. Doesn't connect to internet. Doesn't require login/password.
If you are very interested in keep you original DVD unscratched then you can create a image of the media using specific tools like Alcohol 120%.

Ah - it's listed under T rather than W. Silly me for not checking the definite article.

Well it does if media is damaged, the CD/DVD drive/OS/software setup isn't "compatible" or if a user is running anything that the CD-check deems to be "subversive".

Unfortunately, Alcohol 120% (and Daemon Tools) requires online activation - using it to bypass a CD check is, as far as I'm concerned, a bit like choosing to swallow a knife to cure a sore throat. Otherwise I'd have purchased Daemon Tools a long time ago.
