Publishers not got any help for you? Im sure if you explain to them they might come up with a solution.
But the CD/DVD-rom you have may indeed have problems reading the disc well enough unfortunately. If you know a friend who has an external caddy with a drive via USB you could always try with it on your machine, if it doesnt work there is a possibility your system may be not stable and there is memory leaks.
