So would you recommend downloading the trainer with the highest number? If not obvious, I have never used a trainer before! That doesn't mean I haven't ever cheated though...

I recommend downloading them all and seeing which one of them covers your needs the best. There can be a "mega trainer" with lots of features none of which work correctly; in such a case you might want to use the correctly working trainer with less features. There can be trainers who have quite different features: one about health-lives, another about game time, yet another about powerups (when talking about a classic shooter game).
