Hi, thanks for the help which is much appreciated.
 So what is the best virus scanner and firewall all in one,ive got the latest norton, but it seems to miss alot and takes ages to load .so if any has a really good firewall/virus checker for xp please post a link as to where i can buy it Last edited by ckc; 17-09-2006 at 04:44.

boot block virus
Hi again,
I downloaded the f-prot and installed it, checked it but it still does not show up the boot virus, i can reset the computer back to factory setting using the restart disk but it still says a virus is on the boot block, so far nothing ive tried can find it or remove it. Is there a boot block virus remover i can buy thanks, Peter

Isn't this "virus on the boot block" an error message displayed in a text mode screen (i.e. not in graphical mode)? Isn't it possible that you left the virus protection feature of the BIOS (which is worth nothing at all!) enabled?
