Well I installed it in my v14 (GH-037-02) and all I get is a black screen on boot up and no laser activity. I even tried to force the backup firmware chip by pressing reset 3 times and tried to shut off the chip by pressing reset 6+ times. I triple checked all solder points and resoldered them the last time. When I remove the 3.3v power from the cc chip the ps2 boots as expected.
Now I'm totally lost, maybe it does have to be flashed on an older system 1st. Maybe I have to wire that TO pad.. it shows it in the newer 1.1-2.0 pics. What is the TO pad and why can it sometimes be left out? On spedmetals http://www.norcalmods.com/gallery/ site there's pics of cc1.0 on v14's.. More proof that it's possible, I just wonder what I'm missing here

Why dont you contact Spedmetal at his website and see what he thinks. Speds a real cool guy, he will help you if he can. From what you describe my guess is you have a bridge somewhere. Sorry without having the console in hand all we can do is guess. BTW, you did burn the latest firmware upgrade onto a cd-r didnt you? |

yeah I burnt the latest firmware to CD-R
![]() I'll contact spedmetal as I have been looking for a few days now with no answers. I'm unsure what a "bridge" is but my guess is it's a short. I've also did a resistance check on nearby pads to make sure none are touching. Total loss here.. even if it was that I didn't burn the firmware CD-R, the laser refuses to spin up while the mod is powered. Thanks for the help thusfar! |

Any chance of an install pic?
P.S. With the chips power removed, does the console function normally (i.e. full functionality including reading of discs?)

As for an install pic, well I wish I could but my digital camera is crap and even worse in macro mode. I'll see if I can borrow a better camera.
I used the install pics from crystal chips website for cc1.0 installs http://www.crystal-chips.com/documen...c1/cc1_v14.jpg When the chips power is removed yes it does function fully.. loads cd's & dvd's as expected. |
