Try it without a crack. (I don't know and I can't even test it because I don't have the game, only the main executable that forum members sent to me...)
Ohhh! See the log file, called FIRE.LOG, that the game creates; can you find the apparent reason for the crash in it?

there's load's of
Bad attribute line: errors in the log, all different things at the end of the line though could i send someone the file, see if they can pick out the problem?
