as in crystal xp? the vista skin?
if it is,that skin completley replaces the xp bars rather than masking them like windows blinds does. and its the masking that causes the problem. i had that vista skin,it was really good,didnt mess nothing up. i know with the k-tek skin and some other popular ones they stop half life 2 from starting also.

I guess it has something to do with DirectX/Direct3D. Try reinstalling DirectX 9.0c (if you dont have WinXP SP2), this could help...

That's it!
d3d9.dll is the directX main library so it' a DirectX error!

Ok i found it.Its simple I made a rollback on my vga drivers and it works perfect using 53.xx nvidia drivers TNX everybody for your help
