Cool Battlefield 2 Connection Question

Hi

Just a quick question, everytime i join a game or move onto the next map on a server (round 1 of new map) it takes absolutely ages to load and join. This is especially noticeable when i start a new map in the first round, normally the first couple of flags have been captured before i can join, it also seems really laggy for the first 30 seconds or so (got well over the reccommend specs and a 3Mb broadband connection), this doesn't occur when the next round of the map starts, only when it is the first round of a new map. I could understand if it was a small delay but it seems people have been playing 2-3 minutes before i join and i have joined from the previous game.

Any ideas how i can speed this up, tweaks etc in my setup?? Would be most appreciated as i love the game. Are there any windows tweaks that would speed up what i think are graphic loading issues??

I have got a p4 3.06, 120Gb 7200 rpm Maxtor HDD, 256Mb 9600 Radeon, 1GB DDRRAM, got all the latest drivers directx etc. Running in background norton firewall/antivirus

Any ideas most appreciated

When i first installed and played BF2 everything was fine.
Then i haven't played for 1-2 weeks. After that i have had the same problems like you.
I tried much, but only after reinstall of the game it was working fine again.

Cheers bud

I have just wiped my system clean, thinking that maybe that was the source of the problems (reinstalled battlefield 2 on completion), still no joy, just the same as the original

Anyone else with any other ideas?

Thanks for looking

Thats a Easy one,
Turn the Damm firewall off, why do you need it?, you have topsecret data on your drive ???, and if your running win XP do the same there, and while your at it ask your telefon-server, if they have a Ping controll (Fast Path)

Cool

Tried that mate already, no difference, it just the initial load of a new map that takes alot longer it seems than everyone else and i meen alot longer i think it is graphic loading issues and somehow need to give it more memory, graphic power if you know what i mean

I just think i need to tweak my graphic setup etc to enable it to run faster and wondered if there was software/sites that gave you optimal setup guides etc for gaming

Anyoneany ideas?

What are your graphics settings?

FYI: I got 2GB of Ram and the game is installed on a S-ATA RAID 0 setup. Initial map loading time is about 45 seconds, mapchanges between rounds about 20. I often find myself laughing because I already capped 2 flags when the other players join

The main computer settings are set to performance, the games setup graphics are set medium or lower (don't want to lose all the gucci graphics), just all seems so slow on the map change first round!! Mines about 2 mins at least (enough for a ciggie anyway) then the first minute in game is laggsville, then it sorts itself out and everything runs fine!!! Love the game, think i just need to tweak my setup!!, only got 190 points to go for corporal!! YIPEEEEEEEEEE!!!

get more ram

I went from 1GB to 1.5GB, and everything just works now!! no start of round jerkiness, no waiting ages when shutting BF2 down to do anything else!!
