It appears the starforce drivers now attempt to actively prevent users from extracting DPM info causing the problem you described. Obviously uninstalling the sf drivers isn't enough to get rid of this "feature", so probably extracting the DPM info is possible on a system, where no sf drivers have ever been installed. Maybe using a fresh windows install (or an image w/o any sf stuff) would work for you...

Have a caddy and Hard Drive with a clean install of windows XP. With this you can extract DPM info from the disc. Once Starforce drivers are on your system, they are a B***er to get rid of.

thnx for ur info - i diddn't know that - unfortunately (for me :P) i think my cd's are either a little scratched or my cd roms are no good course after several tries
on a new install of win2k (i only own 2k and like it better anyway) my pc simply hangs at 96% of the DPM ... im goin to try it at a friends house soon (as soon as i can convince him to format his drive and reinstall his os lol :-) ^^ ) edit: if anybody gets to do this earlier than me pls upload ur mds file to copybase.ch or a similar site i'll do the same if i succeed ..... |
