Thats not what he means. Over time a RW disc can destroy the laser because its harder to read. After you get a modchip installed use quality media like ritek or taiyo yuden for backups. I'm not even gonna get into the knife swap method.Edit; Sorry snake replied at the same time lol

My Pal PS2 modal is SCPH30003 , I think a version 4 ? . Is this good or bad  I have been working away for over 2 years , PS2 has not has a hard life as not been used to much . What chip would be best for me , also looking for a uk installer Thanks

You'll probably find it hard to find a V4 installer in the UK. As a rule, I never do anything under a version 5 as the hardware is just too unpredictable with recordable media.
