Just one file

In fact, there is absolutely no problem with the NoCD, but in some configurations the installer makes a bad copy of one file, the file \Video\Cine\CINE0100.BIK.

Your trick is good and useful (you made a Prince of Persia no Videos, Game Only!), but I think I have a better one :

Get the No Intro Fix I've made for this game at GCW. Make a copy of the UBISOFT.BIK file and rename it CINE0100.BIK. Rename the file \Video\Cine\CINE0100.BIK as you like it, and copy my file in \Video\Cine\ as CINE0100.BIK.

You will never run the bad file, and you can see the other cinematics.

But the best solution is : find a friend wich have the good CINE0100.BIK file and get a copy of this file !

no, you change the folders name back after passing through the intro. you have a no video game for 1 min until you make your first save inside the game. then you quit the game and changes the folders name back to cine the original name of the folder and you have videos on again.
my way wont require backup of any files or corrupt any files. it just "hides" the problematic file from the game until you have a way to pass the problem.
i have almost completed the game now and i have had films during this time so its not a "no video" game. it has it all.

I believe the general message was that some group called ... something like "WEETAM" or whatever made a warez release of the game on CLONECD, this release made a bad copy of this file, but then they released a fix.. which was esentially a repacement for this exact file. I ran across this replacement file (which I thought was a NOCD Crack) and deleted it.

Since this came up multiple times, I made me do some research
I discovered that there were 2 warez releases, one by WEETAM or whatever, didnt include the crack and was labeled "CloneCD".
Then reloaded came out with another release (which has the fixed exe that exists in GCW) and it didn't have that issue, so no fix was necessary.

The message is and i'm being judgemental about this: If this file is corrupt, then you have the warez CloneCD version by WEETAN (or whatever)

This is almost identical to the issue of "AI DISABLED" in half life 2..

I have said this before and I say it again.

See, if Ubisoft somehow released a bad batch of CDs enough that an issue exists for actual users, there's be a patch by the developer, not a fix by a warez group.

The installer is a lottery

You are perhaps a bit too optimistic. See the case of Vampire bloodlines: without the first "unofficial patches" made by leopold and oma, you can't seriously play.
I don't think there is some bad Ubisoft disks, but I'm sure there is a very buggy application used by Ubisoft and the others : the Installer. It took me 3 attempts to install the game -and I'm happy because this time it was not needed to restore my system partition! When the installer mysteriously goes to sleep, and you must reboot, what happens if it was in the middle of a file ?
Even if you are right, I think the pirate does not have intentionnaly made a bad copy of this file. Well, why was this file bad ?
Look at what Ubisoft and the others says to the users which have some problems: uninstall and reinstall the game. They knows that the installer is a lottery - better luck next time, we hope...

MaPomme i agree that replacing the corrupted BIK file with one which is working is the best solution. i didnt say that solution since i didnt locate the exact file. all i did was find the folder with videos and knew the corrupted file was in there.

what i was trying to say and what you still, dont seem to understand is that the game will NOT be without movies. ill explain simply with step by step.

1. change the folder "cine" to "cine1"
2. open the game and no intro movies will be there and game starts
3. save the game on the boat.
4. quit the game
5. change the folders name back to "cine"
6. load the save game
7. play the game WITH movies

what you do is that you hide the file temporarily until the movie isnt needed anymore. now you have a savegame on the other side of the corrupted bik file and you can play the game with movies.

well, with all the new releases on GCW etc. this thread wont be needed anymore so have fun playing and ill talk to you all later when another game has a bug

I understand and say one more time that your tip is GOOD. But I say also this tip is MORE USEFUL: I can now play WITH OR WITHOUT movies. I don't like to watch some videos 3 or 4 times, and I've already used your tip to play the game one hour without movies. And I say thank you.

Don't be too modest, you gave more freedom to all gamers.

OK ?

Ma Pomme :
I said your trick is good, and it is ! But it is also useful : if someone wants to play without any video, now he knows how and must say thanks to you.
The problem is that you leave on your disk a bad file, I don't like that.

Can we agree to say "get the good file" as the best solution ?
