Yup, I think you may have to reflash up to fw 1.38 too. You wanna know how to do it? The link is below

P.S. Just check you burn the image in Mode2/XA. I didn't and this simple S.O.B. problem took me three days and three installs to solve

I will reflash the chip to fw 1.38. When I was getting the red screen it would boot original PS2 games and I upgraded it to fw 1.35. Not sure what I have done to cause the gold disc to show up for all games.
