I was having the same problems as everyone else until I did this:

- I was running and older version of Daemon Tools after I installed the game. Never used CloneCD or Alcohol 120%.

- Game would tell me to insert CD1 if I tried to run it.

- Uninstalled Daemon & installed the newer 3.47 version.

- After rebooting, I mounted CD1 & now the game works. I would suggest uninstalling your CD Drive emulators & reinstalling them.

I was browsing this thread and noticed that everyone is talking around each other so I will try to make this simple:

The only solution given in this thread so far is to remove/uninstall one or more of the following programs: Clone CD, Daemon and Alcohol 120%, reboot, then run the game.

This "fix" will work for some, for others it will not. Meaning the game does not start up, even if they remove all of the mentioned programs.

From these posts it would also seem that it doesn't matter if you use the two files (so far) from GCW or not. It may or may not work. For some it works, for others it doesn't.

I think we are slowly approaching a time where the copy protection gurus are beating the crackers. No-cd cracks used to come out within a day or two of releases, sometimes before.

These days there are games which are uncrackable (dtm toca 2, fade etc) and some which require really dirty methods to get working. Now with HL2 and steam activation also.

Looks like their wining the battle!

no. the games you talk about are starforce protected. this one is safedisc, it recognizes clonecd, and if you got that one installed, it won't boot up. if you only use alcohol, create images with sd2/3 profile and mount the images in the internal virtual drive, it works perfectly. but okay, it seems no one listens to me here *pops original disc in and plays* :-)

never had installed anything else than alcohol 120%, still can't play.

How do you mount images in the internal virtual drive? What is an internal virtual drive?

bierhuettl,

I have done this many times with alcohol and Deamon tools (latest versions). It works for some but does not work for others. I've NEVER had clonecd installed, and you would know this if you've read my previous post.

Alcohol 120% is teh sux!

Here's a tip to all of you:
Never use Alcohol to mount/install games. Just to burn certain images.
The virtual clone drive does not fully support every type of image. As I've had nothing but trouble with it. So for your mounting needs, for the love of god, use Daemon tools.
