It seems your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is damaged.
Try installing the game using your CD-Burner!

i would not be that quick with conclusions. my dvd-rom has read-errors with some cd-rs as well. imo its not damaged in any way. in my experience that depends on the combination reader <=> cd-r if the data can be read by the reader or not.
