Read the page again. First paragraph:
"Also, this is not a nocd/dvd.. but infact a Fixed EXE" The crack is just a fixed exe, meaning you can use it with a backup, and not without it. Tip

that would explain it, however it is advertised on gcw as a "No-DVD/Fixed EXE" which is what all the nocd files are always called.
oh well, might as well give up on them now, proper nocd cracks are becomming rare, seems they finding ways to make uncrackable games these days with the likes of sims2, toca, flat out etc
