umm if I can recall, you don't need a modchip to play dvd-movies (or burned ones for that matter). I'm not entirely sure, but I do remember this being said. (I never used the ps2 as a dvd player until recently, but I do have a chipped system. My friend did use it though and he has a v1 non-chipped system.)

Yeah, you're right, there is no need of modchip to play dvd movies, in fact before the mod I was able to play movies, but now that I have modded my ps2 I need help playing them...
