Athlon 2400+XP 512 PC2700 corsair XMS 9800XT 256MB 120GB maxtor diamond plus SATA. Running the 4.9 drivers for ati I can run doom3 in high settings no problem what so ever.It just seems that when im actually playing the game my hard drive is going crazy as all i hear is it working and i get seroius jumpy screens. Also on the tutorial i cant do anything as everytime i go to move my mouse over the screen it just lags bad. |

Any anti-virus programs running? I know Norton has something called "On-Access Scan", and if left on will severly hinder a games performance, as it's constantly scanning the HD in the background.

I had avast running in the background. Do you think that could of had something to do with it?
I usually have it on for other games and dont seem to be bothered by it. |

Possibly, it couldn't hurt to turn it off and try playing, could it?

Alright, I just got the game working on my computer, and I just played through the entire Tutorial, flawlessly.
My specs are: GeForce 6800 GT AMD 64 3500+ (clocks at about 2.2ghz) 1GB Corsair Ram 120GB Western Digital The only thing I can think of as of right now, is that this game was made for Nvidia cards (thus the nvidia logo in the intro). This could likely result in problems for ATI cards; with Far Cry, I couldn't even play it until I waited for a patch to come out, as the graphics were so horrible. (Far Cry was coded for ATI cards, the patch fixed the problem). The only other thing I can think of is doing a google search and looking to see if anyone else is having the same problem with ATI cards. Also, the forums at www.evilplanet.com might be a good place to ask, too. (Although I wouldn't mention that you're using a crack version at first, some people like to jump to conclusions...) |
