Evil Genius..Anybody know the protection used?

Does anyone know the CD protection used on Evil Genius? I suspect it's Starforce3, but would like this confirmed. Thanks

it's about the 15th game for which you are asking this question.

so... did you flip a coin to guess that or did you really suspect it would be starforce - and if so why?

so let's see what you could get from searching the net:
google: evil genius +game
first match: "Vivendi Universal Games: Evil Genius - index"
if you look at what Vivendi has published so far and what protection it *always* had; it should clue you into the answer.

Download the util from here http://pid.gamecopyworld.com and run it on the exe on the cd it should tell you the protection.

Its funny cause its true!

Anyways, SecuROM 5.0.3123123.2989821312. Or something like that.

If you know I've posted 23 times, then you know that I have problems running Starforce3 games. Pardon me for breathing! I can't run a media check, because I don't buy the game if I know it's Starforce.

Yeah well I need the NOCD crack for this game, does anyone have it or know where it is?

Olix 03-10-2004 02:37

I second the Securom thing. Its really annoying - stops me from using my deamon tools to play and also doesn't let you play off a burnt image... sucks.

I would also like to ask for a crack.

Edit: I've been looking around in an atempt to get this working. I found the SecuROM crack by Laxity on gamecopyworld, but when I try to run the .exe it just gves me an 'internal error' message. Can anyone give some advice here (If you've had a similar problem) or otherwise give me the IRC server, channel for the Laxity people?

Edit 2: I've found a crack!!!!! check the torrents on www.suprnova.org , or i'll send it to you through msnm if you need...

Hoov 03-10-2004 08:49

Hook a brother up? rhoover********com

I took a gander on suprnova.org, to no avail. This secuROM 5.03.06 is looking to be a bitch; apparently Tribes: Vengeance will be using it too, and what with Daemon Tools blacklisted, stuff isn't looking too good.

steven21 03-10-2004 08:57

I have the game and also have the crack. But when i come to play it i seem to get massive slowdown and what seems like alot of lag and broken speech in game. Any body else having problems with it??

Hoov 03-10-2004 09:07

I'd be glad to help you out, but I seem to be outside of the loop on the whole 'crack' issue...

What are your system specs? After playing the demo, the game certainly doesn't seem to too system intensive, though you never know, I can run Doom 3, high quality, 1280*1024 res at 60 FPS, but Morrowind skips massive amounts of frames at 1024*768 res... It could be that the game's graphic engines was just poorly written. It probably has little to do with the crack itself; it probably wouldn't hurt to check and make sure all your drivers are up to date.

steven21 03-10-2004 09:15

Well i have the following specs:
Athlon 2400+XP
512 PC2700 corsair XMS
9800XT 256MB
120GB maxtor diamond plus SATA.
Running the 4.9 drivers for ati

I can run doom3 in high settings no problem what so ever.It just seems that when im actually playing the game my hard drive is going crazy as all i hear is it working and i get seroius jumpy screens. Also on the tutorial i cant do anything as everytime i go to move my mouse over the screen it just lags bad.

Hoov 03-10-2004 09:19

Any anti-virus programs running? I know Norton has something called "On-Access Scan", and if left on will severly hinder a games performance, as it's constantly scanning the HD in the background.

steven21 03-10-2004 09:23

I had avast running in the background. Do you think that could of had something to do with it?

I usually have it on for other games and dont seem to be bothered by it.

Hoov 03-10-2004 09:28

Possibly, it couldn't hurt to turn it off and try playing, could it?
