You trying to install to the PS2s HDD or burn to a DVD-R Disc? Either way will do, but the HDD loads quicker and places less strain on the laser...

We need more info, what version PS2 do you have? what modchip?? What games are yopu trying to backup??

i have the 50001 model, and i currently have no modchip, i was trying to backup star ocean, champions of norrath, and viewtiful joe, i get different results of them not being able to work, like freezing, or a black screen of death, is it the encoding that makes games non-back-upable

There is the problem! You need a mod chip to play your backups. I recommend a Duo2 chip. That'll solve your probs.
