How have you got the Sony drive connected?
If as a master set it to slave/secondary. The Sony drive for some reason is a bit fussy about how it's connected.

Also a simple rule of thumb is Burners-master Readers-slave if 2 burners like my setup, DVD-master and DVD/CDRW combo-slave. Hopefully your problem is just a jumper setting.
