Well, there you go! Thomson drives are good for something. Actually I have both of these drives and I’m torn, Samsung reads CDR’s and scratched originals better and I found the Thomson drive reads cheaper DVD-R media a lot better so if I ever do get DL media … that won’t be any time soon for me. |

samsungs can't read dvd+, well, the majority anyways.

Was your freinds XBox chipped? The XBox with the Samsung that read the DL DVD?
Not sure whats up with Samsungs and DVD+Rs. Seems some will read them some wont. Like mine will read a movie thats on a DVD+R but not a game.

Booksetting
Some drives have a booksetting bit e.g. lite-on. You need to set this to DVD-ROM. This will make all disks 99% compatible with DVD readers and XBOX's etc.
