oh god your freezing prob reminds me of another problem, which i had with my pc(wasn't very funny!). so I would say it is not a driver problem, but a hardware prob like cdkiller said...
my hd was broken and the reboots took very long, too.(at the end it wasn't even possible to reboot!!)
