If you take the original iso and only change the code I gave you, it should work fine on a PAL DC.
What kind of cable do you use ? What tool do you use for hex-editing ? Maybe the one you use messes up with your iso. I'm afraid un-selfbooting your game won't change anything. Does anyone else here have the same problem ?
