Problems patching 60hz Border Down and Psyvariar 2
 

Both games runs fine in 50hz mode, but if I patch them with Pal Patcher 1.1, Border Down (no autoboot), booted from Utopia, stops loading at 96%, psyvariar 2 returns to Dc menu after the Dolmexica screen.

They both show me protection 2 and 3. I have tried to patch both protections and then only prot 2. neither work and show the same effects....:(

I have a Pal euro DC.

Can someone help me?

I've patched it using "PAL Protection 2", and it seems to works fine...

psyvariar2? I'll retry patching only prot2...

I have patched the cdi file with both border down and Ikaruga.
After the selection screen they both return to the main menu!

I have Ikaruga patched succefully in the single disc version....

What I do wrong??

I copy DC games with daemon tools and clonecd 1:1 copy. But I think that's not a problem since they work in 50hz....

Megalexx, can you tell me the hex values for psyvariar 2 and Border down, so that I can patch manually and see if it's right?

In 1st_read.bin, look for : D2 0B 42 09 00 01 1F 0C 84
Replace 0C 84 by 30 E0

for both Psyvariar 2 and Border down?

I have changed the hex values but psyvariar 2 reboots after the usual screen... :(

It's really strange. Megalexx, what can be the problem? is it the protection that reboots the DC?? I don't understand why only those games don't work at 60hz on my DC....

If I try to make them no autoboot, do I have more possibilities that they work in 60hz mode?

If you take the original iso and only change the code I gave you, it should work fine on a PAL DC.

What kind of cable do you use ?
What tool do you use for hex-editing ? Maybe the one you use messes up with your iso.

I'm afraid un-selfbooting your game won't change anything.

I use the standard rgb cable...

I have many games patched succefully, but the latest releases have problems running 60hz.

Ikaruga was fine but Border down, Puyo puyo fever and psyvariar 2 doens't boot anymore once patched.

I have used Hex workshop 4.0. I think it's not there the problems because they behave like patching with your program...

That's weird :
_ I've got a PAL DC with a scart cable, and all these games work fine on my PAL TV
_ the code I gave you is exactly the same as Ikaruga, so if Ikaruga works on your DC, the other ones should also work

Are you sure you modify only 1st_read.bin ?
This code might appear somewhere else in the iso.


You might try this :
_ look for 02 E0 21 D1 02 21 0F A0 09 00
_ change the first "02" by "00"

I have searched all the cdi file for the code.....
what is the difference in searching only on 1st_read.bin?

but after patching the iso, the game behave like patching only 1st_read.bin with your program.

a friend of mine told me he has a modified Utopia to force games to run 60hz, is it possible?

I also have found an utopia 1.3 and 1.5....are they fake?

At least, you're sure you don't mess with other files.

Maybe you should try with a scart cable...

It's on some bytes after the ones I gave you before. It should have the same effects, but now I'm sure of which value is used on your DC.

I doubt it, since most of the games reinitialize display at boot time. But if your friend can give you some proofs...

I have a scart adapter. the games doesn't boot the same...

I will try the new code, but I don't hope very much....:(
