I build/program computers on the side so I will try to help the best I can.
First I need to know the last thing you remeber doing prior to this error. Did it work ok and then all of a sudden just quit on you? Do you have the original emachine software that came with? Have you done a virus scan lately? I had an emachine once before I gave it to my uncle and it was one of the easiest computers I ever programmed so hopefully we will get to the bottom of this quickly. If I remeber correctly, by installing the cd that came with it, and booting it up from the cd, it offers a list of options and one is to restore files without deleting any current software. Can you confirm this in the users manual?
