What software did you get with your A05?

If it was RecordNow Max (which is what mine came with)... Installing that is all that is needed.....

Although you should still use Clone CD to backup cd based games....(The A05 is 100% compatible with Clone CD)

What type of MODCHIP do you have in your PS2?

Without "knowing" what chip you have MAY be the reason none of your backups work.......

Each chip has a different way to boot backups.......

Alot of them boot cd-r backups one way, and dvd-r backups another.....

It is of EXTREME importance to FIND OUT what chip it is to make 100% sure that the method you use is the correct one.....

Take a look at my boot procedures post..... HERE!!!!!
and see if you can get any of these to work for you......

Halo, Doa3 and Panzer Dragoon Orta are the only good exclusive games on the X-Box.

The PS2 also has some titles that will not fit on a dvd-r.....

Metal Gear Solid 2 will fit. (PS2 version)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance will not (PS2 version)

There are a few others......

But there is "light at the end of the tunnel"

Some of the TOP release groups have already cracked the dvd-9 problem on at least one game.... Hopefully it won't be too long before the others are cracked also....

Good Lord.

*sigh*

As for which is "better"... let me run down the list:

CPU:
PS2 - 250Mhz RISC
XBOX - 700Mhz Celeron

(I'll take the RISC chip, thanks!)

GFX:
PS2 - Sony Proprietary
XBOX - GeForce3

(GeForce3 is better at high res, but your TV is 400x400... so it doesn't matter much!)

Controllers:
PS2 - Excellent
XBOX - FRIGGIN' HUGE AND UGLY AND BULKY AND UNUSABLE

(I _HATE_ XBOX CONTROLLERS!)

XBox Bonuses:
Hard drive
built-in network
Rare works for Microsoft now

XBox Minuses:
If I wanted to play PC games, I'd play them on my PC.

PS2 Pluses:
More games, better games.
Square works for Sony.

PS2 Minuses:
HDD costs extra
Network costs extra

i've got both machines and truth be told, i do prefer the ps2.

My xbox is with matrix and i've got tons of homebrew software...which is goddamn nice to have! Megadrive emulator etc! Although it's just too much like my pc to get excited about.

Although i have to say, the shenmue series will always have a place in my heart Simply amazing!

Ps2 has better games though! I bought my xbox the day of release and since finishing the release games, other than panzer dragoon orta there aint anything else I wanna play.

Gurm: I believe the ps2 has a 300 mhz processor not a 250.

Xbox has nasty controllers that's why I use my PS2 controller with an adapter

In graphics the Xbox beats the crap out of the PS2. CPU power? Oh hell yeah. The Xbox runs the genesis emu full speed . The PS2 doesn't run it's Genesis emu full speed and it looks like crap. That one called Pgen.

Games: Well the PS2 does have a lot more games of course and many good ones too.

So yeah lets hope the Xbox does come out with some good stuff... The other consoles are coming out with some cool exclussive games and the Xbox nothing really exciting lately.

Sorry, about this - I don't mean to offend anyone here but this is just my opinion - I think the XboX is absolute CRAP! The controllers are massive, bulky - Horrible! It takes an extension on your house to fit it in and if I wanted a PC, I would buy a PC - they are so similar! The only difference is that the XboX is made old PC hardware and cheap bits at that - A Celeron Processor? they're s***! The only decent bit is the Graphics Card but it isn't used to it's full potential so whats the point. Not only that, but if I were to buy a games console, I would want to spend my money on a console which games publishers / manufacturers care for. If it meant spending a little more - so be it! The PS2 outsells the 'Box in a ratio of about 5:1 and this speaks for itself. I am sorry, but I hate the XboX and always will!

Just for the record.

The XBOX has a 733 P3, not a celeron.

I like the xbox controller(controller S). I can't imagine trying to play halo with the ps2 controller.

I say get em both if you can afford it.

I can't imagine playing Halo, Period.

I played Tribes and Tribes2, so Halo just seems lame in comparison.

In fact, the BEST game of that type (3D squad combat, powered battle armor) was "Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri", by Looking Glass.

Sadly, Looking Glass was a little too forward thinking, and made games that ran lousy on current hardware but GREAT 2 years after release.

As for the P3 vs. Celeron... it's a P3, true. But it's a P3 on a crippled bus, with shared bandwidth for all the devices and no dedicated CPU lines. Lop off some cache and it's a celeron. Might as well be, runs like one.

And the reason the Genesis emulator runs better on the XBox? Because it's a byte-for-byte port of the PC Genesis emulator which is older, better supported, and more refined.

I've seen some impressive graphics coming out of the XBox. But that's about all.
