Ok.....That format is not the best for the PS2.....
Some PS2's will read a +R disc.....MOST will not.... How old is your PS2.....? Look on the back of your PS2... There is a sticker on the back....There is a number also... It starts with SCPH-#######..what is that number? Then we can tell what version PS2 you have..(You have to find this out BEFORE you purchase a mod chip anyway)
