I'm New Here

I'm new here, Please Be Gentle
I was Thinking of getting a mod chip but which one,
Which is the best,
I was thinking of the PS2 Plugmod
Is it any good
What else do i need [hardware]
Will it work for PS1 & PS2

and where can i get it without using a credit card because
I don't Have one

Thanks for the co-op:)

The Messiah, Magic 2, Apple, and Matrix 2, are the best chips available...They are all DIRECT BOOT chips (which means, you don't have to swap with a gameshark and original game)...
You just put in the backup and play.....:D

If you are referring to the USB mod (the one that plugs into the front of your PS2 in the USB port)
NO.......It sucks........

You will need a "good cd burner"...(Preferably one that is 100% Clone CD compatible)
And you should also consider purchasing a DVD burner..(Pioneer A03 or A04 is what most on the forum uses)

Yes.... Most mod chips will work with PS1 games also....

Where can i get those chips
Do they require soldering

I don't think it is the usb mod

Yes I have a dvd burner

Where are you located? Then I can tell you the best place to get the chips from....

Yes....All of the Direct Boot chips require 23 wires to be soldered..(Unless you are a PRO at soldering, let someone install it for you)
When I find out where you are located I can also rec. people that can do the install for you....

I see the chip you mentioned..... Do what you want, BUT if it was me.........GET A DIRECT BOOT CHIP.........

What type of DVD Burner do you have.....?
AND, What type of CD Burner do you have?

Liquidus 18-10-2002 16:13

BD

I'm From Ireland

Dvd burner - Philips

BG 18-10-2002 16:18

If your DVD burner is a Phillips it probably is a DVD+R burner, correct?
The +R format is harder to read in a PS2....

The one everybody like to use for the PS2 is the -R format..(Pioneer A04)

WHAT TYPE OF CD BURNER DO YOU HAVE...(Model # etc)

Liquidus 18-10-2002 16:23

It can also copy cd's aswell
but I also have a completely seperate cd burner on my other pc

2.53ghz
512mg rd ram
128mb Geforce 4 ti 4600
etc

BG 18-10-2002 16:27

You do not need to use you DVD burner to burn CD based PS2 games..... It is not RAW+96 capable and thus cannot produce a 1:1 copy....

Also....Does your DVD burner burn DVD-R's or DVD+R's....

Liquidus 18-10-2002 16:29

I don't know
How do I check
is there any point
Do you know anybody In Ireland that will do the job-
probably not

BG 18-10-2002 16:33

Look at one of you blank DVD disc case.... IT WILL SAY DVD-R or DVD+R....
(What type of dvds do you buy when you want to use your burner???)
Yes there is a point......IF ITS A +R burner there is a good chance your PS2 will not read the disc......

Liquidus 18-10-2002 16:36

It says Philips DVD+RW-DO1

BG 18-10-2002 16:39

Ok.....That format is not the best for the PS2.....
Some PS2's will read a +R disc.....MOST will not....
How old is your PS2.....? Look on the back of your PS2...
There is a sticker on the back....There is a number also...
It starts with SCPH-#######..what is that number?
Then we can tell what version PS2 you have..(You have to find this out BEFORE you purchase a mod chip anyway)

Liquidus 18-10-2002 16:40

Its the version 4
30003

BG 18-10-2002 16:44

You are going to have a HARD time getting your PS2 to read the +R discs.... They have been known to work on a V4 BUT not very often...The V5 and above have alot higher success rate...

Liquidus 18-10-2002 16:45

What about xbox , Dreamcast etc
