The Magic 2 V7 will work in your PS2..... There is only 1 restriction.
This came DIRECTLY from the Magic 2 site: - There is a restriction on the Magic 2 v7 applicable to PAL PS2s whereby it can only play PS1 games for the same region as the PS2. So a PAL v7 can only play PAL PS1 games (30002/3/4 are interchangeable in this regard).
