Help: File format layout for PSX files

Hello guys,
Noob here,so sorry if I sound stupid and that >_<

I want to work with C++ on a tool that can unlock the binar files from PSX games in order to rip Sprites, Tiles, etc out.
And now here is the catch:

I don't know anything how the file formats of the PSX(TIM, TMD, TOD, SEQ, VAB & VAG files) are build up!
Can someone help me out by that?

I know that some people have made tools so they can give the knowledge to the younger generation^^.
