Wait a minute!
The English v1.3 patch DOES contain a new executable!! I just downloaded it, extracted the installshield files and examined them. There is a new exe file in the installer, in fact that is the ONLY file in the installer!! It's 3,436,544 bytes in size! So I guess you tried to install v1.3 over a cracked game and the installer didn't replace the EXE? So you are playing as v1.0 and NOT as v1.3 with any bugs fixed!! Try copying the original exe file from the DVD to the game folder and then apply the 1.3 patch, then see if the exe changes!
