C&C First decade....Can it be played online without the DVD?

Hi there, I used to play me old cnc general\zero hour online no probs with a cracked 1.7 for generals and a 1.02 for zero hour...

I'm not quite sure how to go about this with the First Decade release though, I sold my old copies of those 2 so can't just use them unfortunately.

*this is not a cd-key issue* - I'm using genuine software incase anyone asks

I've tried the 1.7 crack for generals, but whenever I'm in the online lobby and try n enter a game, it says I'm using a different version to all the other people no matter which game I try n start.

I know the generals with first decade is version 1.8....not really sure what to try from here...

Would be interested to hear from anyone who has managed to play online with the first decade version of cnc generals (its version 1.8)...

Or anyone with cnc generals who's installed the 1.8 patch and can play online...

Thanks for any help,
